![]() And that's what's keeping my pc healthy and safe. But my motto is and has been for a good while now to not let anything past my firewall/antivirus. I know very well what a false positive is and I know that the file might very well be perfectly legit and I am very computer savy. You have no idea how good it feels when your computer is just as fast as they day you bought it and first installed your OS on it even 3 years after, no matter what sites you visit, what you download or what you do on the internet and all of that while you clearly see Norton working live, detecting, blocking, adding to quarantine, removing and refreshing your system from all those negative files on your pc and not to mention it's a very low resource hungry piece of software. Anyone who's saying Norton is bad has simply never tried it or can't afford it. :)Įxcuse me but my antivirus has been repeatedly voted the best throughout the years by multiple sources. Third, False Positives exist for a reason, and if you actually think Norton learns everything without people giving them information you are signifantly lacking an understanding of AV software.įorth, the best Anti-virus is human intelligence.ĪV like Norton are defenses for after the infection already happens, 85% of the time.įifth, anyone who knows even the tiniest things about viruses would understand how to go about detecting a virus through sources more legimate than Norton. Second, Norton hasn't ever gotten good enough to be considered the best antivirus, let alone one of the best. And that money is basically cost-free, so that's going to make the margins look better, too.Originally posted by davidb11:You have got to be kidding me.įirst off, this game is on several other major networks to download, and no one has reported a virus on the Andriod version, the IOS version, the Facebook version, the Google Play version, etc. Plus, there's more money coming from the AI-training-data deal it did with Google (hey, Google again!). And as any digital-media company can tell you, traffic surges from platforms can also get shut off, very quickly.) (Of note: The Verge's Alex Heath argues that a lot of Reddit's recent growth has come from a surge of Google traffic. ![]() The best argument I can make in its defense is that Reddit is still adding a lot of users and that more users equals more ad money. What am I missing? I asked Reddit comms for comment, but they declined, citing the company's quiet period before the IPO. ![]() Reddit is adding users - a bright spot with caveats But one of the reasons it works great is that it's a pretty bare-bones product that does what it's supposed to: It lets people post something they're interested in and then lets other people comment on it. Reddit works great for the people who love it, and there are a lot of them. Bear in mind this was a company that both Musk and Twitter management thought was overstaffed. And at the end of 2021, the last year it filed a public statement before Elon Musk bought the company, that number was down to 25%. When Twitter went public in 2013, R&D was 44% of revenue. Last year, when it was building things like virtual-reality goggles, that number had bumped up to 29%. And you can specifically ignore them for this story since those costs aren't included in the R&D totals.)īy comparison, when Facebook went public in 2012, R&D was 10% of its revenue. You can ignore those in general since they are really about stock and options awards with a long vesting period. (Note: There are some dumb stories floating out there about Reddit CEO Steve Huffman getting paid $193 million last year. Last year, Reddit's spending on research and development - which it says is money spent primarily on "engineers and other employees engaged in the research, design, and development of new and existing products" - totaled $439 million, an eye-popping 55% of its revenue. Reddit CEO Steve Huffman's compensation is not included in the company's research-and-development spending. ![]() Account icon An icon in the shape of a person's head and shoulders.
